    About
  • College of Food Science and Technology is one of a priority for development in Henan Agricultural University. In 1987, approved by the National Education Commission, the major of Agro-products Processing and Storage was set up in the Department of Agronomy. In November 1994, Henan Agricultural University adjusted its majors and abolished departments to create colleges. At meantime, College of Biological Engineering was established. In December 2001, College of Biological Engineering was repealed, but College of Biotechnology and Food Science was founded. In January 2005, College of Food Science and Technology was set up.


    College of Food Science and Technology has a united, dedicated, hard-working and innovative high-level faculty, with 101 teaching staff, 39 professors and associate professors, one scientist of the National Industrial Technology System, two academic and technical leaders in Henan province, three government special allowance experts of Henan province, five academic and technical leaders in the Education Department of Henan province, and five young backbone teachers of Henan province, five high-level talents in Henan province. In recent years, the college has undertaken more than 80 national and provincial scientific research and teaching research projects such as the national 13th Five-Year Plan and 14th Five-Year Plan key research and development projects, the National Natural Science Foundation, and major science and technology projects of Henan Province. More than 30 subjects have been evaluated at the provincial level. 5 second prizes and 6 third prizes were awarded for scientific and technological progress in Henan Province. More than 60 national patents have been granted, and more than 1,000 papers have been published, of which more than 300 are included in SCI and EI.


    The college actively strengthens external exchanges, has a strong influence in the industry, has joined the national Meat Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, the National Frozen Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, the National Food and Drug Industry Science and Technology Innovation Alliance; Cooperates with enterprises to serve the local economic development. In the teaching work, according to the basic concept of student-centered, output-oriented, continuous improvement to carry out teaching work, actively promote the practical teaching mode of integration of production and education, collaborative education, with Shuanghui Group, Sanquan Food, Uni-president Enterprise, Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other well-known food enterprises and scientific research institutions to build more than 30 practice bases. Students' engineering practical ability and comprehensive literacy have been highly evaluated by the industry.


    In the process of double First-Class university construction, College of Food Science and Technology, aimed at becoming a teaching and researching college which is an important support for the development of regional food science and technology, will take talent cultivation as the fundamental, bases itself on Henan, face the whole country, seize the opportunities, work aggressively, and create a new situation of college development continuously.
