  • The antecedent of the School of Physical Education at Henan Agricultural University can be traced back to the year 1956 when it originated as the physical education division of Henan Agricultural College. It underwent successive developmental phases, namely within the purview of the Forestry Department's physical education division, the Sports Teaching and Research Office, the Physical Education Teaching and Research Office for General Courses, the Military Sports Department under the Armed Forces Division, and the Basic Department's Sports Teaching and Research Office. In 1984, the establishment of the independent Sports Teaching and Research Office took place, subsequently renamed the Department of Physical Education in 1998, and ultimately elevated to the status of the School of Physical Education in 2005. The current administrative structure comprises the Office of the Party Committee and Administration, the Youth League Committee, and seven departments classified as One Ministry, Two Departments, Two Centers, specifically encompassing the Public Physical Education Teaching Department, the Department of Social Sports, the Department of Sports Art, the National Student Physical Fitness Testing Center, and the Training Venue and Experimental Training Management Center. The faculty consists of 71 personnel, including 62 full-time instructors, 4 professors, and 17 associate professors. Of note, over 96% of the faculty possess doctoral or master's degrees, with additional distinctions including one international-level referee, five national-level referees, two national-level social sports instructors, one national-level athlete, and six educators holding titles at the levels of national champion or national sports elite.


    In recent years, the school athletic representative teams have achieved notable success in various national sports competitions. In the Chinese University Student Sanda Championship, the team secured 1 gold and 1 bronze medal. At the 2023 National Line Dance Championship, the team earned 2 special awards. In the 2023 National Traditional Martial Arts Competition, the team achieved an impressive record with 3 gold, 4 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Furthermore, in both the 2022-2023 National Cheerleading League and the National Cheerleading Club League, the team emerged as the first-place winner. At the 14th Henan Provincial Games, the achievements included winning the Women's Undergraduate Basketball Championship and achieving third place. In the sports dance competition, the team earned 2 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals in the Undergraduate Group B category. In rhythmic gymnastics and cheerleading competition, the team secured 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal in the Undergraduate Group B category. The team also claimed the top position in the Line Dance competition and garnered 2 gold and 1 silver in the Fitness and Bodybuilding Championship, along with the first prize in the Undergraduate Group B Team category. In athletics, the team earned 3 silver medals, while in table tennis, the Women's Singles in the Undergraduate Group B category achieved the second position. In the five-a-side football competition, the women's team secured the fifth position, and in volleyball, the men's team attained the fifth position, and the A-group secured the fourth position, showcasing outstanding achievements across various disciplines.


    The School of Physical Education is dedicated to the pursuit of general and quality education objectives, characterized by a robust professional atmosphere and a diverse extracurricular landscape. The multifaceted development of students' comprehensive qualities is evidenced by an escalating rate of postgraduate entrance examinations and an upward trajectory in employment quality. The emergence of exemplary entrepreneurial initiatives and recurrent accolades as an advanced unit in student work and entrepreneurship underscore the institution's commitment to excellence. Notably, the School of Physical Education has been recognized as an outstanding organizer of the Zhengkai Marathon. During their studies, students have the opportunity to pursue a second degree in disciplines such as business administration, economics, law, and business English, thereby expanding their knowledge domains and avenues for future employment. The university demonstrates steadfast support and strategic prioritization in various facets, encompassing physical education teaching equipment, financial allocations, faculty augmentation, activity venues, training and competition endeavors, research projects, and the evaluation of faculty titles. This commitment has facilitated substantial progress across instructional realms, extracurricular sporting activities, after-school athletic training, and sports competition initiatives.
