Originated from the department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry established in 1960, the school of Resources and Environment in Henan Agriculture University was founded in 2005 and has a time-honored history of higher education. To date, it has 5 departments, namely the Department of Soil Environment, the Department of Plant Nutrition, the Department of Land Resources Management, the Department of Human Geography and Urban and Rural Planning and Central Laboratory.

The school has 2 first level key disciplines in Henan province, 1 first level doctoral disciplines, 4 master conferrable spots and 5 undergraduate majors(among which 2 are provincial specialized) . From undergraduate to master and doctoral education, the school has a robust hierarchy of talent cultivation. As of December 2023, it has 1298 undergraduates, 207 master and doctoral students. the School has a total of 106 faculty members, including 18 professors, 29 associate professors. Among them, 87 have doctoral degrees. In addition, Its teaching staff are composed of 16 doctoral supervisors and 79 master supervisors.

There are 9 distinctive and 2 provincial science and technology innovation teams. Meanwhile, the school has built 9 provincial and ministerial level platforms. Besides, there are 14 public foundation and specialized teaching laboratories as well as 18 academic discipline research offices. In terms of teaching achievements, the school is vested with two national first-class(or excellence) undergraduate courses, and has won 20 achievement awards regarding national and ministerial science and technology together with education and pedagogy.

On the basis of the university-running principle, namely “Agriculture-based,  Moderate integration, Outstanding academic specialties and first-class striving”, the school adheres to undergraduate education as its cornerstone and highly values moral education, it advocates all-rounded education and creative entrepreneurial ability; Driven by reform and development,  the school gives priority to discipline construction,highlights school-running characteristics, serves the grand strategy of grain production，rural revitalization and ecological civilization construction.
