The College of Life Sciences was established on January 7, 2005. It is a vibrant and innovative college that is characterized by its strengths in agricultural biology. It is a teaching and research college that is supported by basic research and applied basic research. In 2005, a new College of Science was established, supported by our strengths in basic disciplines such as botany, zoology, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, genetics, and so on.

To trace the origin, the biology discipline of Henan Agricultural University, which the college relies on, has a history of more than 100 years. In 1907, the school had already offered courses in physics, chemistry, and natural history, giving rise to academic masters such as Bing Zhi, the founder of modern Chinese biology, Wang Mingqi, a plant pathogen microbiologist, Wu Shaokui, a geneticist, and Ding Baozhang, a botanist.
