The school provides overarching themes for the science and technology innovation teams，and systematic studies have been carried out solidly in the following areas : Land fertility improvement of medium and low yield fields in Henan province; Crop nutrition and fertilization; Agricultural environmental protection and agricultural product safety and Land resource management and planning. During the past 5 years, the school has been undertaken 2 national key research and development projects as well as over 20 national key research and development subjects and National Natural Science Foundation, over 30 provincial and ministerial level projects. Overall, Scientific research funds has reached 178 million yuan. Meanwhile, 350 or more scientific research papers were published, including 203 SCI/EI papers. 31 invention patents were authorized nationally and 6 provincial and ministerial awards were granted to the school. The school has made its bounden contribution to ensuring food security and enhancing ecological civilization progress in Henan as far as to the whole nation. 

With undergraduate education as its cornerstone, the college integrates quality and professional innovation entrepreneurship education, it is committed to equipping noble-hearted talents with profound expert knowledge and social responsibility.  While devoted to “ladder quality education” , the college also takes “Sanying plans” as its concrete actions, all in an effort to invigorate quality and all-rounded students-based education.

In 2022, as a valued teaching achievement, “The exploration and practice of undergraduate to postgraduate talent training mode” was honored second prize of  the national Higher education (postgraduate).  Meanwhile, the talent training mode and social services of “Keji Xiaoyuan” has been reported multiply by mainstream media like People’s Daily, Guangming Daily and etc. Furthermore, in terms of talent cultivation, the average employment rate of graduates has reached more than 90 per cent and Postgraduate Entrance Examination passing rate has reached over 50 percent for many years. Over the last five years, the school has received over 50 rewards in various competitions such as Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Programme for undergraduates, Internet+, Challenge Cup, Creating Youth and etc., and was rewarded more than 20 times at the provincial level and above, besides, over 100 students won awards in Professional competitions. Furthermore, the school itself also has been awarded as Advanced Unit of Employment Work, Excellent Organizing Unit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for several times.
