Originated in 1959, the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) was established in 2004. As a teaching-oriented school, SFS undertakes the teaching of foreign language majors and the teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates (for master's and doctor’s degree) of other majors of Henan Agricultural University. SFS has such teaching branches as the English Department, Translation Department, Japanese Department, College English Teaching Department, Graduate English Teaching Department, MTI Education Center, and Language Laboratory Center. There are 27 sets of digital language laboratories in SFS currently.

In recent years, many teachers of SFS have been awarded provincial and ministerial level or above honorary titles, including one famous teacher in Henan Province, three academic and technical leading scholars of the Education Department of Henan Province, thirteen teaching models, one Most Beautiful Teacher, one Excellent Teacher, one Civilized Teacher, and one Excellent Party Member in Henan Province, as well as 2 young backbone teachers in Henan Province. SFS also received three first prizes for provincial-level teaching achievements, three provincial research awards, published more than 10 academic monographs, and one first prize in the national finals of the Teaching Star competition of Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press （FLTRP）.

SFS adheres to its motto, focuses on building an excellent academic atmosphere, and enhances the professional competence of students, such as establishing Liaoyuan Drama Club in 2023. Many student clubs or societies have successively won many national or provincial awards, such as the Excellent Video Award of Programs of to the Countryside in the Camera by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the National Vitality Youth League Branch of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Red Flag Youth League Branch of the Provincial Youth League Committee, and the Glimmering Public Welfare Club have been awarded honors such as the Top Ten Student Clubs in Henan Province. For example, Li Bing was selected as a typical figure in Employment and Entrepreneurship of the 5th National College Students, and Xing Fuxiang was named the Good Netizen of Chinese Youth . In recent years, students have won more than 10 national level competition awards.

SFS pays special attention to scientific research and social service. In recent years, it has completed two National Social Science Fund projects, nearly 30 provincial and ministerial level research projects, and more than 100 other research projects. It has published over 80 papers in CSSCI, SSCI, and SCI journals. SFS has been continuously participating in language service work, such as the Translation Project of Henan Province, actively promoting the co-construction of research platforms with the Foreign Affairs Office of the Henan Provincial Party Committee and the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhengzhou City, in order to tell the story of Henan well and build a platform for spreading the agricultural civilization of the Central Plains.
