  • The College of Landscape Architecture and Art (CLAA) is a brand-new college, but its related majors have a long history dating back to 1913. With the continuous increase and improvement of related disciplines, CLAA of Landscape Architecture and Art was formally established in 2020.


    CLAA consists of 4 departments including Gardening, Landscape Architecture, Planning, and Art, 1 central laboratory, and Public Basic Department, as well as 4 provincial-level scientific research and teaching platforms such as Henan High-quality Flower and Vegetable Seedling Engineering Research Center, Henan International Joint Laboratory of Landscape Architecture, Henan Agricultural University Industrial Design Center, Henan International Communication Research Center of Agricultural Culture and Landscape; 2 municipal-level scientific research platforms including Zhengzhou Historical and Cultural Heritage Digital Protection Laboratory, Zhengzhou Characteristic Landscape Plant Resources Development and Utilization Key Laboratory. It has a postdoctoral research station for landscape architecture; a doctoral program in first-level discipline (landscape architecture), and two master's programs in first-level disciplines (landscape architecture, urban and rural planning), among which landscape architecture is a provincial key discipline. It boasts two national first-class majors and one provincial first-class major. CLAA currently offers 5 undergraduate majors including landscape architecture, urban and rural planning, environmental design, and product design, covering three major disciplines of agriculture, engineering, and art.

     

    CLAA has 112 full-time staff, including 16 professors, 21 associate professors, 21 doctoral supervisors (including off-campus employed), 97 master supervisors (60 on-campus supervisors and 37 off-campus supervisors), and 49 teachers with doctoral degrees. There are 3 part-time or visiting professors and 2 overseas lecture professors. CLAA has 2142 students, including 1672 undergraduates, 434 master students, and 36 doctoral students.

     

    CLAA has formed a comprehensive education system with landscape architecture as the leading discipline, covering undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral programs. It integrates the multi-in-one human settlement environment discipline group of landscape architecture, architecture, urban and rural planning, art, etc. It has formed a one core, one body, two wings, five major research directions with distinctive characteristics and obvious advantages.

     

    CLAA attaches great importance to opening up and academic exchanges. Currently, CLAA has established close strategic scientific research partnerships with more than 10 schools in 5 countries and regions including the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Poland's Poznan University of Life Sciences, Italy's Marche Polytechnic University, South Korea's Hanyang University, CLAA of Environmental Science and Forestry of the State University of New York in the United States, Ohio State University, Michigan Technological University, etc.
