Prof. Fernando, Chief Scientist of the Animal Health Research Center in Barcelona, ​​Spain, visits HAU

On April 5th, Prof. Fernando, the chief scientist of the Animal Health Research Center of Barcelona, Spain, visited the College of Animal Husbandry for academic exchanges on African swine fever. Prof. Fernando delivered a speech in Room 530, the No. 1 Experimental Building of Longzihu Campus.

The speech, titled "African Swine Fever: Prevention Better than Cure", consisted of the current situation of African swine fever virus in the world, and comparasion of the characteristics of the occurrence and prevalence between Europe and China. He also combined his experience in related vaccine research, introduced his research progress and related precautions, and provided new ideas for the relevant research work at HAU. Teachers from the College of Animal Husbandry also exchanged views with Prof. Fernando on the mechanism of the gene-deficient strain, the situation of causing humoral and cellular immunity, and the safety of related vaccines.

After the speech, Fernando visited the College laboratory and held further discussions with teachers working on the prevention and control of African swine fever and vaccine development.
