With the approaching of the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers Army(CPVA ) to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea campaign, on behalf of Henan Agricultural University(HAU), leaders from HAU, Wei Mengguan, Jie Xiaolei, and Zhao Liuming visited the seven CPVA veterans, Chen Zhaobo, Hu Heting, Liu Meiying, Tang Yinwu, Wang Chunrong, Wu Xifang and Zhou Fulin who participated in the campaign, and gave them the best wishes from all members of HAU on Oct. 23-24.
Wei Mengguan and others went into the homes of seven CPVA veterans and with concern inquired about their physical conditions and daily life. They expressed their high respect and heartfelt thanks for their fearless spirit of sacrifice in the campaign. They also put on the commemorative medals of “70th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army fighting against U.S. aggression and aiding Korea” issued by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the Central Military Commission.
Among the seven CPVA veterans, the oldest is 92 years old, and some of them could not get out of bed by themselves. However, when wearing the golden medals, the old men all tried to straighten themselves up. Many of them also performed solemn military salution to express a veteran’s cherishing this honor. The veterans were still very passionate when recalling the past extraordinary times. Even their unclear words could not hide their lofty sentiments for our country.
Wei Mengguan said that the veterans were not afraid to sacrifice and fight gallantly, leaving us with many touching heroic deeds and valuable spiritual wealth. The historic exploits should never be fogotten. We need to inherit and carry forward their patriotism, shoulder the mission, and make our country better. He told the relevant departments that they should spare no efforts to provide service with more patience, and take good care of these veterans to make them enjoy a happy life.
