Our promise in the summer of 2020 is still echoing in my heart
—Invitation from Henan Agricultural University to the 2020 alumni to attend the graduation ceremony
Dear 2020 graduates:
One year is just a short period passage for life but seems very long for you departure.
One year ago at this time, the plague of the epidemic forced us to make a promise: "We welcome the 2020 alumni to attend any year’s graduation ceremony in the future." At this moment, we extend our genuine welcome to the 2020 alumni back to the campus and partake in the graduation ceremony exclusive to them.
These few words exude our longing for you. In 2020, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, you have fought a thrilling battle against the epidemic together with your Alma mater.
During the epidemic, some of you were at the forefront of the fight against the epidemic; some carried out voluntary services in the grassroots site; some stuck to the laboratory, the field, the production line to serve for "agriculture, rural areas and rural residents" through science and education. In addition, by taking online courses and thesis defence, we conscientiously responded to the requirement of “no suspension of classes” project and returning to school. We managed to safeguard and protect ourselves from the Covid-19 and attained the excellent achievement of “zero infection”.
On the occasion of graduation, some of you were forging ahead in the mission of serving for the motherland through science and technology; some devoted yourselves to the grassroots level and took up your responsibility in the Western Plan, the "Three Support and One Help" Plan, the Specially Contracted Teachers Plan, the Selected Graduates Plan and the army; some entered the enterprise, promoting the rapid development of economic society with the spirit of seeking truth and innovation; some submerged into the flood of entrepreneurship, consciously starting your own business down-to-earth. These scenes are hard to be forgotten.
Hosting luxuriant trees and blooming flowers, now the campus is soaked in strong academic atmosphere. Now, we are waiting for you to fulfill the promise with solemn academicals already well prepared by us. The Alma mater will always be your home and we look forward to beholding your silhouettes in the grand reunion and the unique graduation ceremony.
Like mothers worrying about their departing children, Alma mater will always be solicitous about her students. One promise deserves to be remembered for an entire life. We want to once again extend our sincere and genuine invitation for all 2020 graduates to attend the 2021 and any year’s graduation ceremony in the future!
