The 3rd Scientific Conference on Ecological and Environmental Engineering was held in Poland from June 28 to July 1. The conference was sponsored by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science. As one of the series of international conferences for the 120th anniversary of Henan Agricultural University, it was co-hosted by HAU together with 8 Polish universities (Lublin, Krakow, Gdańsk, Poznań, Warsaw, Wrocław, Rzeszów and Olsztyn), the Beja Polytechnic Institute in Portugal, the University of Life Sciences and the University of Prague in the Czech Republic, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain and 13 others. HAU President Jie Xiaolei and other presidents of the host universities serve as the chairmen of the academic committee of the conference.
More than 500 people from various countries, including politicians and businessmen, leading officials of famous universities and academic research institutions, engineers and practitioners of related industries attended the conference. The conference was organized around six themes: water and wastewater management, renewable energy and carbon footprint, waste management and circular economy, air pollution and climate change, sustainable development and environmental management, geographic information and remote sensing, etc. A total of 18 presentations and seminars were arranged. The aim of the conference is to promote the cooperation between HAU and major European universities in the field of habitat and environment, to achieve deep cooperation in teaching and research, and to provide intellectual support for solving important issues of habitat and environment development such as the synergistic evolution of natural and urban space in the special context of China's urbanization.
During the conference, Prof. Tian Guohang, Dean of College of Horticulture of HAU, member of Academice Committee of the Conference, gave a keynote speech entitled “The regulation of blue-green infrastructure in high-density cities in China”.
