Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education, the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the General Office of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology jointly issued a "Notice on supporting the construction of a number of Science and Technology Backyards", determined to support the construction of 780 Science and Technology Backyards from 68 institutions. Among them, 29 Backyards in Henan Province are listed, with Henan Agricultural University leading 24 of them.
The construction of Science and Technology Backyard of Henan Agricultural University began with the construction of Yuzhou Science and Technology Backyard, in 2012. After ten years of development, there are now 24 mature Backyards, with a scale effect. In 2021, Henan Agricultural University and Henan Provincial Science and Technology Association signed a cooperation framework agreement. Under the guidance of China Rural Professional Technology Association, HAU has established the Henan Science and Technology Backyard Alliance; established an integrated ladder training model based on undergraduate and master's education, which has won several teaching achievement awards; built the network platform of Henan Science and Technology Backyards; compiled the instruction manual and typical cases of Henan Science and Technology Institute. The work of Science and Technology Backyards has been widely recognized by the society and reported by People's Daily and Science and Technology Daily and many others.
The construction of Science and Technology Backyards of HAU promotes the combination of students-school-government-enterprise-farmers, the integration of government, industry, academia, research and application; promotes the close integration of postgraduate education with production practice, with social needs and rural revitalization, strengthens the cultivation of high-level applied talents in the field of agriculture, cultivates a large number of postgraduates who know and love agriculture, master theoretical knowledge and practical skills of agricultural science and technology; provides solid talent support for comprehensively promoting rural revitalization, accelerating the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and enhancing the scientific knowledge of farmers.
As of now, the Science and Technology Backyards of HAU has been deeply involved in postgraduate training of agricultural students, and has become a technical platform for scientific research, demonstration and promotion of technology, a talent platform for government experts, enterprises and farmers to participate together to ensure a good harvest, and an educational platform for scientific research, practice, production and application of collaborative efforts to educate talents.
