From November 21 to 22, Li Chengwei, Party Secretary of HAU, led a delegation to Peru.

On November 21, Li visited the Chinese Embassy in Peru, where Counselor Tseden Pingcuo provided an in-depth overview of Peru's political, economic, and social development. He highlighted Peru's rich cultural heritage and abundant agricultural and mineral resources. Notably, Peru boasts high-quality genetic resources for corn and potatoes, with the International Potato Center located in Lima. Tseden emphasized the strong foundation for collaboration between Henan and Lima in crop breeding and agricultural industries and expressed the embassy's commitment to facilitating deeper partnerships.

Li Chengwei shared HAU's recent achievements under its strategic framework of One Goal, Two Paths, Dual Cores, and N Districts. He noted the university's desire to leverage Peru’s abundant agricultural resources and its expertise in crop breeding to foster collaboration in higher education, research, and talent cultivation. Li underscored HAU's goal to drive industrial cluster development through focused and impactful initiatives, supporting Henan's ambitions for an outward-oriented economy.

On November 22, the delegation visited Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL), where Li met with former Peruvian Vice President and USIL founder Raúl Diez Canseco, Board Chairman Ramiro Salas, President Edward Roque Talavera Travezán, and Vice President Jorge Talavera Traverso.

USIL representatives introduced the university's history, academic development, faculty resources, and international outreach. They expressed a strong willingness to establish a cooperative relationship with HAU, aiming to deepen collaboration in education and research.

Li Chengwei emphasized expanding cooperation between the two universities, leveraging Peru's trade and logistics hub, Puerto de Callao, and the HAU South America Center. He envisioned attracting breeding-related industrial clusters to Peru, fostering governmental and corporate international collaborations.

During the visit, Li also appeared in an exclusive interview on Peru's National Television, showcasing HAU's international engagement efforts.

This visit to Peru demonstrates HAU's proactive approach to international educational partnerships, injecting new vitality into China-Peru exchanges in higher education. Moving forward, HAU plans to enhance its global presence, open more channels for international collaboration, and elevate its internationalization efforts to new heights.
