As graduation season, job-hunting season, and thesis defense season arrive, Henan Agricultural University has introduced a free suit lending service to help students appear at important occasions with confidence and ease.
The program, launched by the university's "Nongxiaozhu" charity store, offers free formalwear to students who need suitable clothing for interviews, thesis defenses, competitions, and other formal events. Students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, first-time interviewees, and those with urgent needs are given priority.
For many college students, formalwear is a practical but costly necessity. A decent suit may only be worn once or twice a semester, yet buying one can be a financial burden. In some cases, students receive interview notices at short notice and simply do not have enough time to prepare.
To address these concerns, the university created the service as a simple and accessible solution. Students only need to present their campus card and relevant notice for an interview, defense, or competition, register on site, and select a suitable outfit. Each student may borrow one set at a time, usually for up to three days.
At present, the store has 41 sets of formalwear in different sizes and styles for both male and female students. The clothing mainly comes from donations by teachers, students, and alumni, while the university has also purchased some items to enrich the collection. Returned jackets are disinfected, and borrowers are asked to clean shirts and trousers before returning them.
The new service has been warmly received on campus. For many students, it not only reduces financial and practical pressure, but also offers timely support at important moments in their academic and professional lives.
Through the circulation of donated suits, the university is turning shared resources into meaningful support, passing on kindness and helping students step into the future with greater confidence.
